Definition
Concave-embossing, also known as embossing printing, is a special processing technique in the surface decoration of printed matter. It uses a concave-convex mold to plastically deform the printed substrate under a certain pressure, thus artistically processing the surface of the printed matter. . Embossed various convex graphics and patterns, showing different shades of patterns, with a distinct sense of relief, enhance the three-dimensional sense of print and artistic appeal.
Process
Embossing and embossing is the transplantation and application of embossed art in printing. Its printing plate is similar to the arching method used in China’s woodblock watermarking.
When printing, instead of using ink, the pressure of the printing press is directly used for imprinting. The operation method is the same as that of general letterpress printing, but the pressure is larger. If the quality requirements are high, or the paper is thicker and has a higher hardness, hot pressing can also be used, that is, the current is switched on the metal plate of the printing press.
The application of embossing and embossing has a long history in application and development in China. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, hand-engraved plates and manual embossing processes were produced. In the 1940s, hand-engraved plates and mechanical embossing processes were developed. In the 1950s and 1960s, an independent system was basically formed.
In recent years, the development trend of high-grade and multi-variety of printed materials, especially packaging and decoration products, has promoted the popularization and improvement of the embossing process, and the production of printing plates and embossing equipment are gradually becoming semi-automatic and fully automated. A fully automatic printing and embossing production line including multi-color printing units has been realized in foreign countries.
Application and development
The embossing process is mostly used for post-processing of printed matter and paper containers, such as packaging cartons, decorative bottle labels, trademarks, book bindings, calendars, greeting cards, and the like. The packaging and decoration utilizes the concave and convex embossing process, and the artistic expression method combining the combination of depth and thickness and thickness is used to make the appearance of the packaging product more perfect in the art.
The embossing process includes the production of plates, embossing, finishing and packaging.
